Purpose
The Asset Planning function is responsible for the delivery of effective maintenance plans and schedules designed to maximize the efficiency of site maintenance teams and drive improved equipment performance. The Asset Planning Senior Supervisor will be responsible for managing a central team of Asset Planners in preparing short, medium or long term maintenance plans and schedules and managing the site-based Work Management Coordinators to ensure timely parts arrival and work order execution.
Provide direct management of a team of Asset Planners and Work Management Coordinators to support the preparation of long and short-term plans and schedules to optimize costs, improve efficiency and drive equipment reliability and availability for a mine or process department.
Responsibilities
Safety and Health
- Proactively demonstrate Newmont core values
- Actively support Newmont’s safety standards and improvement initiatives
Manage Planning and Scheduling Process
- Manage asset planners in the preparation of short, medium and long term maintenance plans (to be executed in the 2+ week range) based on site priority, focused on reducing down-time and maintenance costs
- Manage asset planners' development of resource plans (parts and materials, equipment, tools, labor) for executing maintenance plans
- Manage work management coordinators to ensure strong engagement between site and central teams and to support site execution teams
- Promote a culture of reliability in the planning process to reduce unplanned work/re-work
- Ensure frequent, collaborative communication between Asset Planners and on-site Work Management Coordinators to develop and transition draft schedules to site teams
Monitor Adherence to Plan and Identify Improvement Areas
- Monitor adherence to planning & scheduling processes and review performance KPIs with asset planners; Ensure and monitor the correct use of the ERP systems
- Monitor planning & scheduling KPIs and targets including deviations from maintenance plan and communicate insights to Regional Planning leads
- Collaborate with Strategic planning and OSN teams to identify needs for equipment strategies or Life Cycle Cost Models reviews and ensure updates are rolled out
- Develop & distribute compliance to schedule, work process metrics and backlog reports to site and central AM stakeholders
- Identify and drive improvements to planning activities
Support talent management for Asset Planners
- Provide input and implement global talent management strategy and pipeline for Asset Planners and Work Management Coordinators including identifying/addressing training needs
- Provide coaching, mentorship and development for Asset Planner and Work Management Coordinator direct reports
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a heavy industry
- Experience with manual and computerized maintenance planning systems
- Experience leading a team and implementing Asset Management principles and best practices
- Knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards, work management process, planning and scheduling maintenance activities and performance measures and their interpretation
- An ability to quickly assess information to diagnose problems and opportunities, with a track record of strong professional judgement and critical thinking
- An ability to manage tasks both in-person and virtually
- SAP proficiency desirable
- French language is required.
