Purpose

 

  • The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for all warehouse functions including maintenance of warehouse equipment, updating, and generating/managing annual inventory counts, location system maintenance, stock movement analysis, and job observations.
  • The Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for all prescribed requirements under the Canada Occupational Health & Safety Act (OH&S) and warehouse shelving as laid out by the Ministry of Labor and safe and efficient daily operations of all warehousing functions and personnel.
     

Essential Duties

 

  • Required to handle all goods and materials consistent with company and departmental policies
  • Required to work within and ensure compliance to the Canada OH&S Act shelving as it relates to racking and designated substances under WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Maintain a safe working environment in the Supply Chain Department while adhering to Newmont’s Environmental and Sustainability Policy, Global Supply Chain Policies, Occupational Health & Safety Policy and Corporate Social Responsibility Policy and Porcupine Gold Mines Policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to keep the work environment clean and safe
  • Must ensure all goods and materials are stored properly in a safe manner away from traffic
  • Required to wear PPE as prescribed by the Canada OH&S Act and company policy
  • Recognize safety issues and correct, delegate, or recommend corrective action
  • Responsible to maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment though safety tours and work delegation
  • Must ensure all individuals involved in deliveries have a full understanding of the Loading and Unloading Procedure and Driver Offload Protocol, and are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the communication of all information regarding the procurement functions to operators as required to support planning and production decisions.
  • Adhere to Newmont’s Fatality Risk Management program and conducting the required monthly Critical Control Verifications. 
  • Responsible for the location of new stock items into the Newmont computer database SAP in a timely manner and maintain references in the absence of the Inventory Controller.
  • Assist in maintaining a location system for all inventory in a logical manner, which complies with the OH&S Act, WHMIS, and company policy
  • Assist the Inventory Controller for the generation and maintenance of floor plans and accurate inventory levels of designated substances required under WHMIS
  • Responsible to assist in the design and set up of new inventory areas
  • Required to provide computer training to new warehouse personnel 
  • Required to provide computer training / assistance to all end users as it pertains to warehousing functions
  • Responsible for generating all inventory counts to ensure inventory items are counted according to the regional expectations each year. 
  • Responsible for Vending Machine Training and possible expansion.
  • Responsible for contacting the vendor to program the FOB for the vending machines
  • Responsible for managing reviews of materials to support best inventory control processes utilizing applications such as ONIQUA.
  • Managing a team of warehouse operators and technicians to support the receipt of materials and retrieval of materials by end users.
  • Assist  -in identifying and disposing of obsolete materials.
     

Training & Experience

 

  • Five years of progressive supervisor experience in procurement and warehousing function preferably in a mining or manufacturing environment.  Experience with computerized systems.  Inventory control experience also required.
  • Forklift operators certificate
  • Train the Trainer Certificate
  • Minimum three years’ experience in team effectiveness.
  • Must be able to interact well with customers and vendors
  • Must be able to organize work, prioritize and execute with minimal supervision.
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
     

Working Conditions

 

  • This position part of Newmont's Porcupine mine site near Timmins, ON.
  • In this role, you will work a 4x3 schedule.  As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require you to relocate.
