Purpose
Provide technical support to the open pit operation covering breakthrough planning duties.
Safety & Sustainability Expectations
- Become familiar with all aspects of the Fatality Risk Management.
- Be proactive with respect to safety. Report and correct hazards as they are identified.
- Accountable for own health and safety performance as well as well-being of those in the workplace.
- Conform to the critical control verification process on site.
- Follow operating procedures, design checklists, Occupational Health and Safety Act; company policies and comply with all regulatory requirements
Essential Duties
- Provide assistance to the breakthrough planning team by performing the following tasks when requested:
- Drill pattern design and/or peer review
- Extension or probe hole design and/or peer review
- Loading package design and/or peer review
- Data analysis
- Dig toe updates
- Restricted, cautionary and avoidance areas update based on safe access rules
- Determine and issue appropriate immediate and delay no dig lines
- Support preparation of the short-term schedule, as needed.
- Verification of in-field conditions for designs being completed
- Participate in blasting reviews
- Regular communication with Mine Operations to support mining progress related to breakthrough planning designs
- Other supporting tasks within the breakthrough planning team as directed by the Mine Engineering Coordinator.
Training & Experience
- Completion of a post-secondary education program in mining technology, or equivalent.
- Experience in mine design is essential with preference to individuals who have experience mining through voids.
- Competency in computer technologies for data processing and spatial design. Experience with Deswik is preferred.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to work with others.
Working Conditions
This is a site based position, supporting out Hollinger Open Pit operation near Timmins, ON
The schedule is 4 x 3
This is a short-term opportunity for 6 - 12 months.
