Purpose

The Project Engineer is responsible for developing detailed project scope, schedule and budget in association with mine capital and operating projects, management of project documentation, contract business and performance including conformance to engineering design at Newmont Hoyle Pond Site.

Essential Duties

  • Assist in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for projects, development and preparation of technical specifications – notably working with the mid-term and long-term teams for business planning purposes.
  • Write authorization for expenditure documents in advance of project execution
  • Review, define and modify engineering proposals
  • Have direct contact with engineering firms to support delivery of all engineering and design requirements for capital and operating projects
  • Facilitation of design reviews with all stakeholders
  • Facilitate project risk assessments, including reviews within the realm of regulatory requirements and company policies such as Fatal Risk Management (FRM)
  • Coordinate formal pre-development and pre-start review work, as necessary
  • Meet environmental requirements and demands, and assist in work related to obtaining permits
  • Liaise with construction/projects supervisors to ensure success of all projects
  • Monitor and report on project health related to safety, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate engineering activities among the other disciplines within the project team and operations
  • Follow PMP Guidelines

Training & Experience

  • Mining, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer status in the Province of Ontario (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mining and construction projects
  • Accreditation in project management (desirable)
  • Experience with supervising and coordinating engineering activities
  • Advanced computer skills (Deswik CAD & Sched considered to be an asset)
  • Accustomed to working in a highly collaborative environment

Working Conditions

This is a site based position located at our Hoyle Pond Operation in Timmins, ON
The schedule is 4 days on 3 days off.
