The Musselwhite Mine Metallurgy department is currently seeking a student for a 8-month work term who want to gain on-site mine and milling experience through a work term placement.


  • The Metallurgy department has operational and research opportunities focusing on optimization projects for unit operations such as: Crushing, Grinding, Gravity, Leaching, Carbon-in-pulp (CIP), Elution and Water Recycle. The projects will expose you to different areas of gold production including, but not limited to: safety management, project management, process automation, metallurgical test work, data analysis and processing, engineering design, etc.


Other responsibilities of the Metallurgy Student include, but are not limited to:

  • Learning the milling process from the production floor
  • Executing required metallurgical test work
  • Computation of daily/monthly mill production reports


  • Preference is given to students with at least 2 years completed in a Chemical Engineering Technologist or Chemical Engineering Program
  • Previous experience in a production environment is an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Organized
  • Flexible with day-to-day tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and in a group setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions

  • The work schedule for this position is 14 days on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days. 
  • The work term is 8 months (January 2023 – August 2023).
