Musselwhite Mine

The Maintenance department’s goals are to continue fostering a safe and efficient work environment, minimize downtime and ensure optimum equipment effectiveness through proactive maintenance practices. Reporting to the Site Electrical Supervisor, the Automation Technician will be responsible for maintaining and inspecting all tele-op systems, VOD, Fiber-optic systems, leaky feeder support, Personnel and Vehicle Tracking and all other innovative automated projects at Newmont, Musselwhite Mine.


  • Inspection, Installation, and maintenance of all tele-op systems from Tele-remote and Automated
  • Inspection, Installation, and maintenance of all Fiber-optic systems
  • Inspection and maintenance of all Leaky Feeder Systems
  • Inspection and maintenance of all Vehicle and Personnel Tracking Systems
  • Inspection and maintenance of all Collision Avoidance and Brow Alert Systems
  • Inspection, Installation, and maintenance of all other upcoming innovative projects at site
  • Provide technical support for continued improvement of site automation innovation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all automation records and inspections for audit
  • Perform inspections and testing of automated systems
  • Keep current with all automation codes and regulations
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
  • Ability to mentor and assist onsite Electrical personnel to maintain and troubleshoot automated systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Training & Experience

  • Certified journeyman with 5-10 years of experience and or Electronic Technician Certification
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, and listening skills.
  • A high level of organizational skills, confidence, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to perform in a self-directed, fast paced, team environment 
  • High degree of computer literacy. (Microsoft Office and SAP) a definite asset.
  • A thorough understanding of Maintenance management
  • Knowledge of Maintenance & Reliability terminology and processes.

Working Conditions

The schedule for this position will consist of 12 hr Shift 2 weeks / 2 weeks off rotation working at the Musselwhite Mine Site.
