Training Advisor


Tanami, NT, AU (Australia)

Newmont Tanami provides a fully equipped 1200-bed village, 40km from the mine, offering modern leisure facilities to the workforce who FIFO directly from Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane and Perth.

The Role

Reporting to the Learning and Development Superintendent, the L&D Training Advisor provides learning and development advice and support to all business functions across site. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively with members of the Learning and Development Team and all department Supervisors to ensure each department’s Learning and Development objectives are met.

The role is based in Tanami and offers an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, Brisbane, Darwin & Alice Springs ONLY.


Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Training needs analysis for all relevant stakeholders.
  • Supervision, development and mentoring of Crew/Field Trainers.
  • Assist all departments in achieving their training targets and maintaining their compliance.
  • Training and assessment package development, upgrades and reviews.
  • Facilitation of required training awareness programs.
  • Assistance with the on boarding of new employees.
  • In field training and assessment activities.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities across the business.
The Person
  • Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Recent experience in a Training Advisor or Field/Crew Trainer role.
  • Recent classroom facilitation, field training and assessment experience.
  • Strong computer software skills to aid in training package development and LMS management.
  • Highly motivated with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Resource Processing and/or Underground Mining experience will be highly regarded
  • Current valid HR Licence

To be considered for this role, you must be able to meet the site access requirements by having a current driver’s license, passing a police clearance and pre-employment medical.
