Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

The role

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor you will be providing support to Trades personnel in the installation, maintenance and fault finding of electrical infrastructure in the Fixed Plant, Mine, and associated areas. You will assist in ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently through quality and effective work. 

Who you are

  • You will have experience supporting Electrical Trades personnel as well as the following: 
  • A current C class manual drivers' licence. 
  • Basic computer skills. 
  • Genuine interest in the electrical and maintenance industry.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks, resources, and timelines efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with various workgroups.
  • Familiarity with mining and maintenance processes to plan & execute electrical activities effectively.

Ideally you will also have

  • A current MR class drivers' licence. 
  • High Risk Licences (rigging, dogging, forklift, and elevated work platform). 
  • Working at heights and confined space. 
  • SAP experience. 
  • A Senior First Aid 

Specific duties include

  • Ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with established safe work procedures and systems. E.g. Field Level Risk Assessments, Job Hazard Analysis, Permits) 
  • Assisting Electrical trades with manual handling, collecting supplies from stores, housekeeping and assisting as directed by the trade's personnel.  
  • Cleaning of machinery, components, and subparts, and assisting in the operation of the Electrical tool stores 
  • Liaise with warehouse and main tool store personnel to obtain necessary parts and tooling including unloading & checking deliveries  
  • Assist with the supervision of contract personnel, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and effectively 
  • Using SAP to complete time confirmations and raise notification promptly with the required level of detail.
  • Execute assigned tasks under the direction of the electrical tradesperson, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication with the electrical tradesperson and other team members. Provide updates on task progress, report any issues or concerns, and collaborate on problem-solving. 

Working Conditions

Working a FIFO roster from Darwin or Alice Springs and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village while you are on site.
