Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Working Conditions
Employees work a fly-in-fly-out roster from either Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs or Brisbane and reside in fully equipped on-site village with facilities including Gym, Café, Indoor Group Fitness Room and a multipurpose court.
Working an 8/6 roster and reporting to the Senior Plant Metallurgist you will be responsible for the short and medium-term operational performance and optimisation of the process plant and ensure the processing plant operates in a safe and efficient manner.
Key duties:
- Ensuring metallurgical production targets are achieved by establishing and advising operating parameters to the Process Operation team
- Investigate variances from optimum and/or normal operating performance, provide explanations for these occurrences, and where necessary implement and monitor
- Collate and analyse plant data and laboratory results to complete daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting; forecasts and provide explanation on any variance from budget.
- Contribute to and support the planning and execution of plant and laboratory trials and test work, which may include in house or vendor plant surveys, sampling and plant performance monitoring programs.
- Provide technical assistance and support through leadership and direction on day to day operation and performance of the Process Plant to Laboratory Team, Shift Team Leaders, Process Technicians and Maintenance personnel.
- Demonstrate leadership to continuous improvement through actively seeking opportunities to improve plant performance and/or efficiency.
- Support and manage projects which may include scoping, planning and scheduling, or technical support to broad project groups.
- Promote and adhere to internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards though consistently maintaining a high quality of work across all allocated functions.
- Demonstrate personal commitment relating to Safety, Environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
Your prior experience in gold or base metals processing together with Tertiary Qualifications in Metallurgy or similar will be required for your success in this role. Your positive and concise communication skills, ability to liaise and engage with employees across site as well as the ability to provide clear direction and enact change will be well regarded.
As a Metallurgy Professional, your PC skills and computer literacy will be at an advanced level. At a personal level, you will be self-motivated, accountable, and an individual who is proactive, decisive and values driven.
