Paste Plant Technician

Our Underground Tanami Operations is located in the Tanami Desert, 540km north-west of Alice Springs, on Aboriginal freehold land. The operation produces 500koz of gold annually and is currently Newmont’s lowest cost operation.  With a mine life extending past 2036 Newmont is investing heavily in the construction of a new production shaft to 1,200m vertical depth.  The operation has delivered outstanding Reserve and Resource growth in the last 10 years and subsequently enjoys consistent exploration funding to facilitate an exciting and productive program. The processing plant is approximately 40km from the mine.

The Role

Under direction of the Senior Pastefill Technician, the Paste Plant Technician is to provide operational and subject matter expertise with respect to the safe and efficient operation Paste Plant located at Dead Bullock Soak (DBS).


The role is based in Tanami and offers an 14/14 FIFO roster from Perth, Brisbane, Darwin & Alice Springs ONLY.


This position will be assisting in delivery of the following for Paste Plant surface processing:

  • Assist the Senior Pastefill Technician
  • Required operator training and competency assessment
  • Trouble shoot issues
  • Isolation requirements
  • Identify and escalate maintenance items
  • Conduct paste sampling
  • Environmental monitoring and adherence
  • Paste operator activities and duties

The Person

  • “A” Class driver’s license.
  • Minimum Year 5 completion and pass with previous mineral processing experience essential.
  • Experience in operating Paste Plants greater than 500,000 tpa.
  • Strong analytical skills, computer literacy and reporting ability.
  • Training in Job Safety Analysis.
  • Mobile equipment and loader experience.
  • Forklift ticket (High Risk License).
