Maintenance Long Term Planner

Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering modern leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Advisor – Planning and Reliability, the Maintenance Long Term Planer is responsible for providing the Granites Operations department an accurate and comprehensive plan and schedule for plant shutdowns which meets production requirements. In addition, this position is responsible for the long term planning (6 months plus) for all Granites Operations equipment based on the defined maintenance strategies.

The role is based in Tanami and offers an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, Brisbane, Darwin & Alice Springs ONLY.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the creation and updating of a shutdown schedule from pre-shut to post-shut for every shutdown at Granites Operations
  • Responsible for the planning of each shutdown task
  • Required to follow the 12 week planning guide for shut downs
  • Assisting to establish, maintain, governance and improve the Maintenance Planning and scheduling business flow process.
  • Ensuring that executable mechanical maintenance plans are developed and aligned with Asset Management strategies and life of asset planning.
  • Producing long term plans, based on the existing maintenance strategies and schedule parts and resources required to complete the tasks for all Granites Operations based maintenance for the Department

The Person

  • 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Process Plant Operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project
  • Trade Background.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Computer literate with SAP PM/MM or other tier 1 CMMS


To be considered for this role, you must be able to meet the site access requirements by having a current driver’s license, passing a police clearance and pre-employment medical.
