About The Role

You will lead the implementation of programs / initiatives and oversee systems within the area of environment in Newmont Tanami Operations’ (NTO’s) Sustainability and External Relations (S&ER) Department.

Some Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure all commitments in the Mining Management Plan (MMP) and associated documents, including regular reporting, are being tracked and met, and that systems are in place to achieve this.
  • Ensure all Northern Territory and Commonwealth regulatory commitments are being tracked and met, and that systems are in place to achieve this. 
  • Liaise with social responsibility staff to ensure compliance to Traditional Owner and Central Land Council (CLC) commitments;
  • Lead execution of annual environmental reporting programs
  • Develop and direct implementation of systems to manage hydrocarbons and chemicals,
  • Develop and direct implementation of systems to manage water quality and quantity, including transport, storage and use for operations as well as protection of natural sources
  • Identify and implement opportunities for waste minimisation and recycling
  • Ensure all sacred site clearance approvals and works are conducted as required.  Assist in the management of systems for the protection of sacred sites and significant flora and fauna, in liaison with social responsibility staff
  • Assist with development of closure and reclamation plan/s including identification of potential reclamation opportunities and closure risks
  • Support the regular and structured promotion and awareness of environmental aspects to NTO employees

Training, Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in related discipline with demonstrated practical related experience;
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and / or mentoring personnel
  • Sensitivity to and respect for communities and stakeholders
  • Current manual transmission Drivers Licence;
  • Experience in the resources industry is desirable.

Working Conditions

This role is offered on a Fly In Fly Out basis on an 8/6 Roster direct from Perth, Darwin, Brisbane or Alice Springs
