Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

About the Role

As a team member reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you will be tasked with carrying out both preventative and breakdown maintenance for a variety of underground mobile equipment. This includes Sandvik Drills, CAT 2900G & R2900XE loaders, Volvo Integrated Tool Carriers, CAT 962M Loaders, CAT AD63, and Epiroc MT65 articulated haul trucks. Your proficiency in fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance services will be crucial to your success in this position.

 

With a variety of roles available, you can choose to work an 8:6 roster or join our PCR team offering a 2:2 roster. Options for FIFO are available from Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane, or Perth, and you'll be accommodated in our fully furnished village, equipped with leisure facilities.

In this role, you will

  • Performing routine preventive maintenance on equipment to the required standards is essential for optimizing machine availability and meeting targets. It's important to ensure all work is completed promptly and efficiently to minimize equipment downtime. Detailed data entry should be completed using our service tool. High standards of housekeeping should be maintained in all work areas, along with stringent contamination control during all tasks. Utilizing available tooling, technologies, and work practices, focus on eliminating live work as a key aspect of your daily tasks.

You, the person

  • Cert III Trade Qualification or equivalent is required, along with maintenance and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience in underground or mining environments is highly regarded.
  • Candidates with underground breakdown experience will be considered favorably.
  • Previous experience with Sandvik Drills and Caterpillar machinery is advantageous.
  • Possession of a current Australian driver's license is essential.
