Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region.  The Tanami Expansion 2 (TE2) project, aims to extend the life of mine beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft together with underground crushing and conveying will aid to increase production from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

The Role
Reporting to the Business Readiness Maintenance Specialist, you will apply your knowledge, skills and experience to effectively identify, create and deploy Fixed Plant management activities.  You will be involved in all phases of business readiness and asset management activities including but not limited to information gathering, optimisation, installation, commissioning, deployment of maintenance and operating systems for multiple work packages that will transition from project to operational assets.

Your role will be responsible for providing expert advice relating to maintenance and operational systems, processes and procedures.  You will be required to enhance systems, procedures, equipment and tooling requirements in order to be fully functional for operations through the various business readiness phases.

 

In This Role You Will:

  • Develop extensive knowledge of Newmont’s Tanami mine site, existing infrastructure, future infrastructure, mining equipment, logistics and site conditions.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders for Safety in Design, HAZID and HAZOP reviews aligned with operability and maintainability expectations.
  • Liaise with site technical, operational and maintenance personnel to assist in planning the execution of the maintenance requirements.
  • Engage with site and industry equipment subject matter experts and specialists to gain a better understanding of maintenance and operational requirements.
  • Support the design and implementation of commissioning plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all Newmont’s global asset management standards, guidelines and review processes.
  • Support the Maintenance Specialist and Maintenance Advisors in the development and implementation of maintenance strategies to ensure the equipment performs to meet the functional requirements.
  • Assist in the development of Work Instructions, Standard Task Procedures and SAP Task Lists to deliver the maintenance strategies.
  • Identification of maintenance materials and tooling required to support the maintenance strategies.
  • Support the development of plant specific training packages.
  • Provide regular updates to the Business Readiness Maintenance Specialist to enable accurate forecasting.
     

About You:

  • Electrical Trade Qualification or Tertiary Qualification
  • Fixed Plant maintenance experience in Mining that includes winders, shaft and hoisting systems, crushing and conveying circuits, dewatering and associated services
  • Familiarizing with relevant Australian Standards and applicable legislation pertaining to machinery and winders
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify maintenance requirements associated with a vertical shaft hoisting system, crushing and conveying and associated surface and underground infrastructure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • PC skills and computer literacy with familiarisation of various software packages associated with the project controls discipline including MS Office suite, MS Project, document control systems, and Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
