Dimensions

This position involves close coordination with the maintenance planner/scheduler, mill front line supervisors, and warehousing, to ensure all maintenance and production goals are achieved.

Purpose

To organize, co-ordinate and direct maintenance activities, ensuring that the work is performed in the safest and most cost-effective manner by managing all resources towards complying to the maintenance schedules with the least negative impact on the production plan

Essential Duties


Managing Subordinates

  • Ensure that hourly employees have the tools and systems in place so work can be performed safely and efficiently.
  • Guide and coach individuals towards reaching personal and company goals. (Career development). Identify opportunities for improvements (training, tools, etc.) and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete performance reviews as required on all direct reports in a timely and professional manner, develop action plans, and follow up throughout the year.

 

Promote Safety

  • Promote and adhere to Newmont’s and Porcupine’s environmental and sustainability polices.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with external agencies (i.e. MOL, MOE, WSN,).
  • Promote the principles of ownership and accountability to the maintenance personnel.
  • Lead by example, provide guidance and motivate people to work safely
  • Ensure Porcupine’s safety initiatives are implemented and followed. 


Strategic Planning 

  • Promote and build a positive & co-operative working relationship with all departments, keeping safety, production and costs as primary elements to meet the mine plan.
  • Promote safety, PM compliance, equipment availability and cost control.
     

Training & Experience

  • A Certified tradesperson or a holder of a Maintenance Technician/Technologist Certificate with work experiences.
  • 5 - 10 years of Mill/Crusher equipment maintenance related experience.
  • Combination of 10 years’ experience as a certified tradesperson including some temporary supervisory/lead hand experience.
  • Ability to interpret electrical & hydraulic schematics and offer sound technical expertise with regards to maintenance issues. 
  • A strong working knowledge of fixed plant maintenance equipment, maintenance procedures and legislative requirements as it relates to mining equipment and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead others.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize breakdown maintenance
  • Valid "G" driver's license

Working Conditions

This is a site based position located at our Dome Mine Site near Timmins, Ontario

The schedule is Monday - Thursday (8-12-12-8).
