The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. To operate the process circuits of the Merian Process Plant in a safe and competent manner to achieve production targets. Process Operators will be required to operate, troubleshoot and report on the status of a variety of circuits within the Process Plant. 

Essential Duties

  • Conduct all work according to site Health and Safety standards: 
  • Participate in safety meetings and safety programs ensuring that safety is the top priority in all work
  • Conduct pre-checks on all equipment and circuits prior to starting work
  • Speak up, report and correct any unsafe acts or conditions
  • Operate process plant circuits to achieve daily targets and KPI’s for circuits including; crushing, grinding, gravity, leach & CIL, elution, detoxification, tailings, reagent mixing, LOTOTO and control room duties. Operating each circuit may include the following duties:
  • Record and monitor manual and online measurements to ensure safe and efficient operation of each circuit
  • Ensure that daily targets and KPI’s are met
  • Troubleshoot equipment and circuit performance when operating outside of normal range 
  • Housekeeping of area to ensure safe and clean work environment
  • Additional non-routine duties during shutdowns
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc work where required, including assisting other departments within the process plant
  • Ensure reagents are available and mixed to correct strength
  • Operate heavy equipment to support routine and non-routine work
  • Conduct isolations of equipment when authorized 

Training & Experience

  • Secondary School (MULO/LBO), Prior Learning Assessment Equivalent 
  • Suriname driver’s license (manual ) 
  • Prefer 2 years experience in mining, construction, utilities or other heavy industry
  • Strong safety mindset
  • Dutch and English literacy required to comprehend safety and operational documents and record performance metrics
  • Able to do basic calculations to support daily operational performance 

Working Conditions

  • The position is located in the Merian Process Plant and will be on a 14 x 11.5hr shift schedule in a remote camp environment, including night shift work
  • Operators may be required to work overtime when required by the business 
  • Operators will be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time, undertaking physical work in a tropical climate. 
  • Operators must be able to wear all personal protective equipment required by each area of operation, as specified in the Health and Safety plan.
