Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Geologist is responsible for planning and coordinating exploration activities and sharing the results of said programs with the manager. He/she adheres to the company's principles by adopting management oriented toward the major objectives of Newmont

Essential Duties

  • Supervise and help plan drilling, mapping, prospecting, geochemistry and geophysics campaigns
  • Supervise and take part in the geological compiling, interpretation and modelling so as to generate exploration targets
  • Deliver exploration programs on time and on budget
  • Track costs
  • Share program results and follow-ups with management and executives on a regular basis and as needed
  • Manage the personnel, evaluate performance and see to employee development
  • Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to health and safety
  • Perform all other tasks related to the performance of his/her duties.

Training & Experience

  • University degree in geology
  • Member of a recognized professional order, such as O.G.Q. or O.I.Q.
  • Minimum ten years of experience as an exploration geologist
  • Minimum five years of experience managing exploration programs
  • Knowledge of and proficiency using GIS software such as ArcGis an asset
  • Bilingual (French and English)
