Senior Advisor - Communications and Social Performance

Newmont Australia are looking for a Senior Advisor - Communications and Social Performance to join the team, based out of our Perth regional office.

About The Role:

Reporting to the Principal Advisor – Government & External Relations, you will build, promote and protect Newmont’s reputation among diverse stakeholders through the provision of strategic communication advice and practice to Newmont Australia operations.  You will develop and coordinate our social media, be responsible for content creation and delivery across external and internal channels and use your experience to develop and execute Communication Plans, including consultation for key projects. You will have the bandwidth to also support our environmental, social and governance requirements at the Country level and contribute to the strategic direction of the communications function and the organisation.

In This Role You Will:
  • Work with key partners to manage and curate Newmont Australia’s social media platforms.
  • Develop and execute Communications and Stakeholder Engagement plans for key projects, including community consultation
  • Provide internal communications content and delivery to maintain and develop Newmont Australia as a preferred employer with a stand out commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Develop and manage a media relations plan to support Newmont Australia and operations including maintaining senior management proficiency in media relations skills..
  • Develop and support Newmont Australia’s community investment program, including partner liaison, managing Newmont Australia’s Community Investment processes and standards, partnering with Sites where required
  • Review, prepare and, where relevant, distribute regional communications materials and partner with Sites to deliver their collateral requirements.
  • Oversee, maintain and update key Newmont Social Responsibility standards, along with implementing and maintaining compliance with Regional voluntary commitments and legal requirements.
  • Manage production of internal and external publications, presentations and relevant business briefings; maintain an up-to-date photographic library; maintain professional standards for the Newmont corporate brand in all applications
Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist:
  • Degree in International Relations, Communications, Political Science, Social Science, or relevant degree and have a working knowledge of extractive operations
  • Mastery in core writing skills, creating compelling content  for external and internal audiences
  • Ability to deliver outstanding communications and community relations results to tight timelines, managing competing work streams
  • Experience interacting with industry organizations, government agencies, NGOs & civil society institutions & academia.
  • Proven track record of successful social responsibility management, in particular with Indigenous stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in the governance process and implementation of partnerships between industry and relevant external parties, rep bodies, land councils etc.
  • Have established networks in the extraction industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, leverage & maintain contacts with key external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated influencing skills & strong interpersonal skills.
