The role

Reporting to the Regional Control Systems Manager the Control Systems Engineer is a member of the Regional Fixed Plant Control team in Australia, and is responsible for maintaining the availability and integrity of the industrial control system (ICS) infrastructure across multiple sites in the Australian region. This will also include providing support to maintenance, control room / operations and projects departments to safely maximise production capacity across both processing and mining facilities.

In this role, you will

  • Monitor multiple sites control system infrastructure status and resolve any issues identified
  • Implement temporary and permanent change requests to ICS software/application
  • Execute and/or support projects impacting on site industrial control systems
  • Monitor, report and improve the key ICS performance metrics (alarm & controller reporting, system availability etc)
  • Diagnose and resolve operations and maintenance issues related to the industrial control system.
  • Support the site OT infrastructure and applications, including the PI Historian suite
  • Participation in the global process control community
  • The position is required to travel between sites located in Western Australia and Northern Territory, working from home and in the Perth Regional Office.
  • The role may occasionally be required to travel to other sites internationally

The person

  • Tertiary Qualification in industrial control systems engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • High attention to detail and effective communication
  • Ability to mentor and influence technical resources regionally and globally
  • Ability to interact competently with stakeholders at various levels up to and including site process managers
  • Ability to work effectively with site and broader control system teams
  • Significant exposure to IT/OT fundamentals including virtual server installations, database management, active directory management, cyber-security
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for industrial control systems

Control systems packages experience

  • Significant exposure to the following control systems packages and Historian in a mining resource and production environment
    • Yokogawa Centum VP DCS
    • Schneider Modicon PLC’s
    • CitectSCADA HMI systems
    • Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLC’s
    • Aveva PI Historian Suite

Working Conditions

This is a full time, permanent role and is Perth based in our regional office in Subiaco. The Regional Fixed Plant Control team currently works a hybrid Working From Home (WFH) model split between working remotely and working in the office. This is subject to change based on operational support requirements. Regular site visits between Boddington (DIDO) and Tanami (FIFO) will be required.
