Purpose

The Graduate Electrical Engineering reports to the E&I Engineering and Reliability Specialist and is responsible for a wide range of functions to support the achievement of the Process Maintenance department’s strategic E&I performance objectives.
A key function of the position will be to support the development of national technicians to improve skills and knowledge of best practice engineering standards.

Essential Duties

  • Proactively support the development of an E&I reliability and condition monitoring program.
  • Develop and implement asset maintenance strategies to improve plant performance and increase uptime and utilization including Thermographic Surveys, Grounding surveys, Oil Analysis, Circuit breaker injection testing, vibration analysis.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of equipment failures.
  • Identify new technologies and propose implementation to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Perform electrical & instrumentation detailed design for new installations, modifications and upgrades to equipment.
  • Perform design drafting of technical schematics using AutoCAD
  • Update and maintain drawings and equipment registers.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, execution plans, commissioning requirements and QA/QC validation.
  • Provide mentoring & technical support to the E&I team to ensure skills and knowledge development.

Training & Experience

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. Recently graduated or is in the final stage of graduating.

 Knowledge and understanding of electrical & instrumentation standards and compliance. requirements (North American NEC/Canadian CEC).
 Good experience in AutoCAD & general computer skills including MS Office.This is a graduate position experience; is not essential.
 Exposure to low voltage & high voltage electrical design.
 Exposure to instrumentation and process control systems engineering design.Strong communication, team, problem solving and technical report writing skills.
 Proficient computer skills.
 Ability to build strong working relationships with internal & external clients
 Be able to promote continuous improvement.
 Ability to use engineering software (e.g. etap, AutoCAD).
