To provide effective management and leadership for training and capability development at Peñasquito through the setting of strategy, development of plans and coordination between departments.

Duties and Responsibilities 1

Design the annual training plan in consultation with key stakeholders and in alignment with the budget cycle and other defined milestones.

Deliver the annual training plain and manage the budget with regular reporting on progress.

Ensure a consistent approach to training practices and record keeping across the operation for employees and contractors, e.g. planning, training, assessment and record keeping within a standardized learning management platform.

Integrate capability systems into talent management strategy and broader system design for Peñasquito.

Align with Newmont corporate frameworks and initiatives to meet site-based needs.

Requirements 1

  • Ability to think and plan with a long-term perspective including understanding the long-term impacts of current activity and anticipate potential challenges
  • Develop and lead a capability strategy that positively impacts the entire organization
  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of capabilities system to the whole site (Map of capabilities, Development of standards, Implementation of methodology which is divided into 3 phases: Assessment, Training & Evaluation)
  • Understand the principles and practices of capacity and team management (leadership systems)
  • Recommend design, development, delivery, and evaluation of site wide people strategies / systems / initiatives.   


  • Development and delivery of comprehensive and consistent programs of suitably resourced work to enable successful implementation and transformation of desired future state culture
  • Proven experience in organizational design as well as in the development of a range of frameworks
  • Diagnosis, development and delivery of people systems and strategies including organizational wide HR (talent) systems
  • Successful delivery of site wide projects in large scale, dynamic organizations
  • Engagement and influence of senior leadership positions and key stakeholders, e.g. unions
  • Prepare and manage and annual budget > USD$ 2 million
  • Negotiation of completing priorities in a high-profile role
  • Recruit and develop a high performing team to achieve business objectives
  • Preference for experience in mining or other resource / manufacturing organization

Professional Education

  • Bachelor degree in education, human resources, organizational development or similar field preferred
