Purpose

At Penasquito Mine we are looking for a Productivity & Projects Superintendent to work in our Mine operations team, with core responsibility for maximizing value extracted from the fleet management system, analyzing and prioritizing mine operations improvement initiatives and leading cross-functional teams aiming to enhance safety and improve efficiencies .

The Productivity and Projects Superintendent will be key part of Senior Leadership team on site interacting with key business function such as Technical Services, Processing, Safety, Maintenance & Reliability, Human Resources, Supply Chain and Global Support Networks. This role reports to the Mine Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of SOPs (Standard Operations Procedures) to ensure work is carried across 3 groups, 24x7 in a consistent manner following best industry practices
  • Sustain and extract value out of the Short Interval Control program encouraging the team to make timely decisions for the best interest of the site
  • Simplify existing reporting structures and provide visibility across a variety of performance metrics ensuring the integrity of the data (Trimble, Power BI, SQL)
  • Coach the team to maximize value extracted out of the Fleet Management System to meet or exceed expected performance targets
  • Lead multi-disciplinary initiatives ranging from small to large scale projects
  • Collaborate with Full Potential, Operate for Reliability , OSNs (Operational Support Network), IT and other sites to support corporate strategies. Also maintain healthy relationships with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) providing site support.
  • Identify , scope and execute improvement initiatives to enhance performance based on strong data analytics mindset
  • Promote innovation, review new products and technologies to support work execution in the most efficient way
  • Support for professional development activities, to foster a positive workplace that reflects Newmont values and the development of high performing teams

Requirements

  • Diverse background with hands-on experience analyzing large amounts of performance data and able to visualize and generate strong insights
  • Previous experience in the optimization of Fleet Management Systems and monitoring operational and safety performance data for over 100 pieces of equipment
  • A strong ability to influence without authority and lead multi-disciplinary teams aiming to achieve a common goal at times with conflicting priorities
  • Proven leader able to manage a team of 10 people working 24x7 providing strong coaching, mentoring, and support for professional development activities, to foster a positive workplace that reflects Newmont values and the development of high performing teams
  • A strong safety and continuous improvement  mindset able to identify, scope and execute mine related performance enhancement projects under Newmont continuous improvement program
  • Advanced understanding of the full mining cycle Drill & Blast, Load, Haul, Support activities, high level maintenance strategies and root cause
  • Experienced developing and monitoring Short-Interval Controls making decisions to stay on track to achieving targets
  • Some knowledge building dashboards or experience with Power BI/SQL
  • Project Management skills desired
  • Effective communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred

Experience

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of validated experience in surface mining, preferably in a similar large tonnage gold operation scale. 

Professional Education

  • Engineering Degree in Mining
