Senior Network Specialist

About this role

  • We are seeking to hire someone who will be directly responsible for all aspects of Tier 3 support, systematic improvements, and maintenance of our organization's networks.
  • Our Global Network Support Engineer work closely with Architects, Support staff, Regional Engineers, and Business Partners to ensure Network Availability and Performance meet Newmont Goldcorp requirements.
In this role you will
  • Provide technical coordination, oversight and leadership for staff and serve as escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Plan, design, implement and provide ongoing support of network systems of high complexity to fulfill the business needs
  • Design appropriate solutions based on environment, assess and test new and evolving technologies for performance and cost benefits
  • Deploy, configure and use automated tools for Network discovery and management.
  • Provide third level technical support to the Regional technical teams within Newmont Goldcorp to resolve network issues and to support the implementation of new network solutions
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with global and regional teams, business partners, and third parties on network development or support issues
  • Lead Network Change Management, related to deployment, testing and QA functions to ensure that projects are securely delivered and fulfill expectations
  • Provide high level of technical consultancy to ensure problem resolution is achieved timely
  • Develop processes and procedures for use by the Network team and our third parties in the management of network environments
  • Provide recommendations to management team to increase effectiveness and efficiency of organization and technology solutions
  • Maintain continuous coverage of the networking equipment through OEM and third party support and maintenance agreements
  • Mentor junior engineers, and assist our partnering IT teams with understanding of Network function and principles

Your training, skills & experience checklist

Required Experience:

  • 5-7 years of Network experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 5 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree or Expert level Cisco certification

Preferred Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and software - Cisco CCIE, or CCNP Routing and Switching certification preferred
  • Experience administering enterprise IP networks in critical, 24x7 production environments
  • 3 years related experience in infrastructure/network environments and planning, documenting and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technology
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols
  • Python and Ansible experience
  • Experience in large scale high-availability networks environments
  • Shown ability to resolve complex systems and network environment issues
  • Ability to understand systems at all levels, from the enterprise-level view to the low level technical view
  • Ability to effectively guide a team of engineers during complex troubleshooting events to a successful resolution in the shortest possible amount of time
  • Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support strategic organizational plans
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a complex organization to establish business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs
Working Conditions and Location
  • The position will sit in the Greenwood Village, CO Corporate Office.
  • Travel as the need arises, both domestic and internationally. Maintain valid travel documents, allowing unrestricted travel to and from USA.
