Senior Director, IT Infrastructure / Cloud Services

About this role

This role will provide infrastructure services and support to Newmont to enable the business to meet its business goals and strategy:

  • This Position will ensure reliable and robust infrastructure (network, communications and data storage) capable of supporting the current business across all regions and countries in which Newmont operates.
  • As well as planning to address shortcomings and develop infrastructure to match the growth and change in business requirements.
In this role you will

Technical Infrastructure

 

  • Develop a full grasp of the current state of Newmont infrastructure post integration and maintain understanding as it evolves. Establish a desired future state view and design a plan for how this will be achieved. This plan should include the technical work to complete, resourcing, budget and timeframe and particularly, how to complete it with minimal disruption to the business. Provide this recommendation to the VP, CIO for review and consultation with key partners. Implement this plan over the agreed timeframe, reporting on progress and advancing issues as they arise. Work with peers to ensure the collaboration with other IT Teams is seamless.
  • Maintain currency in infrastructure technological developments and identify opportunities for Newmont. Where possible, look for opportunistic adoption or otherwise build these into longer term planning.
  • Maintain a suite of infrastructure standards and policies for the business. Ensure appropriate audit and control for these so that their efficiency and appropriateness is fully understood.
  • Systematically monitor the efficiency of the IT infrastructure to understand performance and capability trends, both positive and negative, to identify where interventions are required. Use BI and Full Potential approaches and tools to assist in finding opportunities to improve performance or reduce cost.

 

Infrastructure Team and Leadership

 

  • Establish and maintain an Infrastructure IT Team with the requisite knowledge and skills to deliver services and support to the agreed standards (quality and timeliness). This will include continually monitoring team performance and capability to ensure that it evolves in line with the business needs, deficits are addressed and new or additional talent is added proactively.
  • Develop and maintain a service culture within the Infrastructure Team. This should include establishing a framework for effectively understanding customer needs and monitoring how these are being met.
  • Identify key global and regional partners and ensure that the Team understands the importance of building and maintaining constructive relationships with these partners. Actively manage these relationships to provide a supportive environment for the IT Team's work. Address for the team any roadblocks related to stakeholders.
  • Establish and actively manage individual expectations for your team about their performance, providing feedback and mentoring as the need arises.

 

 

Projects

 

  • Lead the infrastructure projects to ensure outcomes are delivered on time, on budget and to the quality required.

 

IT Peers & Technical Contribution

 

  • Contribute to the Newmont IT Team, particularly in terms of developing the strategy and how infrastructure is integrated with other IT sub-functions.

 

Vendor and Consultant Management

 

  • Manage vendor and consultant relationships for infrastructure, ensuring quality, cost and timing requirements are met.

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Able to apply broad understanding of business strategy and goals in order to implement an Infrastructure strategy that enables the long term objectives and growth of the Business.
  • Leads a team of COE experts/specialists to deliver on organization goals and IT strategy. Seen as a key leader within IT organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage and mentor others through technical team leadership.
  • Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business and/or technical problems by applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
  • Guided by business and IT strategy, delivers new functionality to meet business needs that drives improved business performance through successful use of technology while supporting IT strategic objectives.
  • Influences business strategy through improved understanding of technology issues, balances challenging priorities within business units and across IT functional groups.

 

Experience

 

  • We need your experience in managing IT infrastructure in a large business operating across countries.
  • Have been in mining, construction, utilities or other heavy industry? This is very helpful!
  • Previously provided advanced technology advisory services? Huge plus!

 

Knowledge

 

  • Bachelor degree in IT, computer science or related field
Working Conditions and Location
  • Position is located in the Denver (Greenwood Village) Corporate office.
  • Position may be required to work overtime and/or weekends
