Join Newmont! As the Operations and Projects Analyst, you will ensure adequate analysis and QAQC of site results to avoid errors and incorrect accounting treatment for the operations within the region. Support Sr. Manager, Americas Operational Accounting, North & South America Assistant Regional Controllers and Americas Regional Controller to develop and implement systems and process focused accounting & reporting initiatives along with ensuring alignment with Newmont's Global SOX standards. Coordinate with regional controllers, project services, and other corporate functions.

In this role you will


  • Assist with the implementation of systems upgrades and changes relating to SAP ECC, SAP BPC, and Blackline.
  • Aid with processes and internal controls alignment with systems design and reliance and in accordance with the Newmont Global SOX standards including handling updates to Resolver.
  • Assist in implementing solutions to accounting & reporting changes/issues in collaboration with the Systems & Process GBPO.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Americas Operational Accounting and the North and South America Assistant Controller teams on monthly reporting needs including but not exclusively posting journal entries, performing operational analysis, inventory costing, trial balance and cash flow reviews, lease accounting and ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Coordinate with site and regional planning and projects teams to ensure alignment of investments evaluated and evaluation results across functions in alignment with our Investment Evaluation Standard
  • Support investment valuation activities, providing information for incremental analysis aligning with Newmont standards and relevant to the business decisions required is performed
  • Ensure the site capital management process is aligns with Regional Investment Calendar
  • Support our Site Business Managers with the preparation of AFE documentation and presentation material for the Site, Regional and Corporate Investment Council meetings, aligned with the Investment standards, as necessary
  • Support reporting needs for regional customers such as exploration, projects, and regional leadership team.
  • Support for SOX program testing and coordination
  • Perform special projects as required, such as: GAAP conversions, acquisitions/divestitures, accounting and reporting systems upgrades/changes and audit related activities.

Your training, skills & experience checklist


  • Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's degree and professional certifications / CPA preferred
  • 4 to 5 years experience in the mining or extractive industries in a planning, budgeting, accounting, tax and/or financial management role
  • Experience using SAP ECC and BPC
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and regulations and internal controls systems design
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Project management experience desired.
  • Detail oriented with ability to understand bigger picture
  • Knowledge of mine accounting (site/region experience preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • High level of motivation, requiring minimal direction/supervision, and assertive diplomacy necessary
Working conditions & location


  • The position will sit in the Greenwood Village, CO Corporate Office.
  • Working in our inclusive environment, telephone calls or other meetings may take place before and/or after normal local business hours to accommodate other regions' work schedules and priorities.
  • We may ask you to travel both domestically and internationally to our various regional sites.
