Provide supervision and technical leadership for specific engineering group in area of expertise to assure application of good engineering practices in a cost effective manner to enhance operations.

Essential Duties


  • Plan, design, budget, and oversee hydrology drilling & construction.  Unconventional hours may be necessary due to drilling activities

  • Ensure Data collection, compilation and interpretation

  • Ensure that the necessary Hydrogeological reviews of mine designs are conducted and that the results and any potential risks are communicated to key stakeholders.

  • Provide Hydrogeological expertise and guidance to Mine Operations, and Mine Planning Staff.

  • Support staff members and projects as necessary

  • Bi-annual employee evaluations

  • Ensure that standard procedures/guidelines and work instructions are followed so the required hydrogeological data is collected, analyzed, interpreted, and the results are communicated such that they are applied to develop confident recommendations to the Mine Planners.

  • Ensure that all work activities are conducted with knowledge such that they comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure that all significant hydrology related incidents are properly inspected, evaluated, and reported to key stakeholders.  It is expected that input on how to manage the incident in a safe and effective manner will be given to Mine Planning and Operations.

  • Develop an understanding of the risks within the day-to-day operations and work to manage them.

  • Ensure that necessary reports and documentation are produced and distributed to key stakeholders as specified by the Senior Hydrologist.

  • Ensure that there is on-going communication with other departments/functional groups (geotech, geology, mine operations, environmental, etc.) to optimize the ability for all groups to obtain the necessary information and/or accomplish a shared objective.

Training & Experience

  • Minimum requirement: B.S. degree in Engineering and ten (10) years of experience in a specialty area are required, including supervising of engineering area, project management and proven leadership skills.
  • Advanced level technical communications, personal interaction and presentations skills required.
  • Software programs:  Microsoft Office Suite, ACAD, Vulcan, Logview, ARC GIS
