About this role

What will you be responsible for?
The Sr Financial Analyst –Pension, Hedging & Capital Markets is responsible for employing the transactions and supporting the investment strategy for the Company’s US & Canadian pension assets, executing hedge transactions that follows the Company’s hedging standard and providing supporting analysis and execution related to capital markets, including debt compliance.
This position will provide research and analysis to support the Company’s access to debt and equity capital markets including liability management exercises, new debt issuance, and stock issuance or repurchases.
 

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
Pension

  • We support the Manager in the execution of the pension investment strategy by completing analysis of the plans or benchmarking information related to the plans to support decision making related to pensions.
  • We assist to prepare materials for the pension investment meetings or outside investment advisory and fund firm providers, with information necessary for their analysis.
  • We coordinate with the accounting and HR teams on data required for quarterly and annual reporting related to the pension plans.

Capital Markets

  • We compile information for and assist to complete financial analysis to support the company’s capital allocation strategy. Including analysis for stock buy back programs, dividend strategies, debt strategies and use of cash on hand or other ad hoc analysis, as needed.
  • We complete payment requests related to debt compliance fees.
  • We participate in discussions with global banking partners to develop financing strategies.

Hedging & Derivatives

  • We execute transactions in line with the Company’s standard for hedging and derivative transactions.
  • We support treasury reporting process through preparation of the quarterly treasury report, hedge committee, or any other reporting as the need arises by management.
  • We maintain financial reporting spreadsheets and system retrieves useful to support the hedging program.
  • We provide analysis, as requested and in support of the hedging committee’s meeting cadence.

Treasury Reporting

  • We support the compilation of data for Treasury reporting, including looking up information on various ERP or Treasury systems while presenting with the internal Treasury subject matter expert on the topic to resolve any discrepancies.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!
Experience:

  • 5+ years of finance experience required, with specialization in pensions
  • Advanced degree or certification preferred
  • Investment banking experience strongly preferred or experience with hedging and derivatives

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience working with financial concepts related to the role and interacting with service providers specializing in pension investment, hedging, derivatives
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to present financial data in a professional manner
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities
  • High sense of urgency and follow through
  • Eagerness to learn and take appropriate measured risks
     

Working conditions and location

  • The position is located at the Corporate office in Denver, CO
  • Position may be required to work overtime and/or weekends
     

The salary range offered for this role is $75,700-99,330. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
