About this role

What you will be responsible for:

Social Responsibility helps Newmont achieve its purpose of crafting value and improving lives through balanced and responsible mining, enabling the mining business to be successful while achieving broad community support. The Senior Manager for Social Responsibility coordinates the implementation and management of detailed social performance and community relations programs that are implemented at the regional and site level. The role works alongside regional and site S&ER resources on execution and ongoing management and monitoring, including field-based social due diligence.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

•    Working with the Director and Senior Director of Social Responsibility to progress the social responsibility strategy and performance standards and implement specific programs through coordinated efforts with regional S&ER leaders and site-based resources.
•    Coordinating implementation of programs for standards adherence in key areas of social responsibility, including cultural heritage, community development, local content, partner engagement, and impact assessment.
•    Supporting an evidence-based monitoring and evaluation program for community relationships and team member engagement.
•    Maintaining and improving the social performance component of Newmont’s management system.
•    Providing oversight of social performance global reporting requirements, including review and verification of regional and site data submissions.
•    Leading social performance content on the company intranet.
•    Participating in cross-functional working groups and communities of practice for standard methodology and knowledge sharing.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

•    Minimum of bachelor’s degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred.
•    Minimum seven years of experience in social responsibility, sustainability, or international development, with at least 6 years of experience implementing related programs.
•    Resources proven experience including at the operational level required.
•    Environmental awareness and the ability to communicate mining impacts and activities to non-mining people.
•    Poise and confidence while representing the company’s brand, reputation and relationships in established and new locations.
•    Relationship building and influence skills; ability to work across lines of formal authority to get things done.
•    Maintaining networks and forums for sharing knowledge, experience, resources and skills. Guiding and building social performance capacity in less mature locations.
•    Validated experience in cross-functional relationship-building and partnership at all levels of the organizations, and the ability to work with internal and external partners across global cultures.
•    Recognized attention to detail and ability to achieve and maintain tight timeframes and priorities.
•    Strong analytical skills to collect, interpret and collate information for analysis and reporting.
•    Strong understanding of MS Office suite required; understanding of other database, analysis and reporting software preferred.
•    Global experience, particularly in countries with emerging economies.

Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!

•    The position is based in Denver, Colorado with a hybrid schedule of working remotely and from our Denver Hub. 
•    Position will be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international locations, up to 40%.

The salary range offered for this role is $113,520 - 148,995. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
