About this role

What will you be responsible for?

The Regional Cost Controls Advisor contributes to successful study/project delivery by providing Project Cost Controls knowledge, support and mentorship to the regional projects’ portfolio, including administrative and coordination services between the Regional Director Project Controls and Sites Team. The position will be responsible for ensuring the use of global standards, processes, and procedures for the Project Cost Controls function within Newmont to standardize study/execution across the region and ensure efficiency within the Projects area.

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • We lead and coordinate with the Project Controls area (Region and Sites), the implementation of Prism Project Cost Management® as the cost controls software tool for each study/project.
  • We provide SME advice and support in preparing the project cost baseline budget, including WBS development, supervising against the baseline, cost analysis, forecasting, and organizational change administration.
  • We ensure the project cost and forecasts are accurate and up to date by regularly coordinating with the project team, supervising the original budget and project cost status.
  • We conduct critical project cost analysis-impacting budget and provide corrective actions.
  • We prepare Regional Owner’s costs reports with analysis, variance explanations, and ensuring consistencies.
  • We support with maintaining the Prism Project Cost Management® database with updates of forecasts, commitments, cost, and changes in strong coordination with each Project Controls/Accounting Site Teams.
  • We implement and supervise a project cost audit tool to ensure Newmont Procedures are being met.
  • We provide training and mentorship in cost controls systems. Capabilities should include the sophisticated level application of software tools for cost controls.
  • We provide general support to the Regional Director Project Controls on confidential and sensitive material.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!


  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree.
  • Practical experience and advance level in cost controls software (Prism Project Cost Management®).


  • Eight or more year's experience in projects cost controls functions for capital projects and/or equivalent combination of education & experience on heavy industrial projects.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively interact and connect with different levels/cultures of internal partners.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail and basic accounting knowledge.

Where you will be located!

  • The position is located in Denver – Colorado. Flexible location the first 2 years.
  • Position will be required to travel to other locations and projects.

The salary range offered for this role is $98,400 to 129,150. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
