About this role

What will you be responsible for?
The Financial Analyst – Metal Sales and Credit is responsible for the day to day metal sales volumes; preparing metal sales forecasts with input from operations, acquiring prices from external customers, managing metal volumes to be sold in compliance with Newmont’s metal sales standard. This portion of the role will coordinate with partners within the region and site to align on schedules and quantities. The Credit portion of the role will be primarily dedicated to mitigating Newmont’s collection risk for non-bullion commodity sales. The analyst is responsible for using various internal and external credit tools as well as potential and existing customer financial documents to evaluate the risk of loss associated with certain customers. And providing analysis on the Company’s overall credit portfolio on a monthly basis.

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Recording, confirming and settling all gold and silver metal sales:
  • We record all gold and silver sales transactions in treasury management system
  • We reconcile gold and silver sales transactions to bank confirmations in compliance with SOx controls
  • We assist with transfer of gold and silver bullion to counterparties through an internet based bullion transfer system
  • We work with Bullion Bank’s operational departments to resolve transactional and settlement discrepancies
  • Maintain and submit all weekly metal sales related revenue activity
  • We maintain all counterparty settlement instructions
  • Communicate when regional resources have or need tools to effectively determine metal production volumes and scheduling conflicts that may impact timing of shipments
  • We execute sales confirmation process with customers
  • Supervise issues in metal sales process including scheduling conflicts, operational issues, and external market conditions that could occur related to transportation, logistics or sales transactions
  • We coordinate with Manager Metal Sales, Site & Regional teams and/or the Marketing team for non-bullion commodities on any contractual stipulations or complications that arise


  • Adhere to the principles of the global Credit Exposure Standard – Commodity Sales and employ the principles through use of a credit model to resolve credit worthiness for existing or potential customers
  • We document credit approval conclusions through financial analysis and qualitative assessment of each customer
  • Research and recommend credit improvement products for new or existing customers who do not meet the Company’s credit quality standards including, but not limited to: letters of credit, cash collateral and parent guarantees
  • We collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing department regarding potential new and existing customers, gather financial documents and other documentation to be used in analysis and reporting of potential and existing customer creditworthiness
  • Build and maintain weekly reporting schedule of outstanding accounts receivable from commodity sales customers to include payment activity, remaining credit available, aging schedules, and other pertinent information that could indicate a degradation in existing customer credit worthiness. Coordinate closely with commodity marketing team on internal efforts for collection and current status

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

  • 3+ years of finance experience required with metal sales experience desired
  • Advanced degree or certification preferred
  • Credit analysis, investment banking or modeling experience strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated credit analysis expertise with experience analyzing financial documents and financial ratings and ratios
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to present financial data in a professional manner
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities
  • High sense of urgency and follow through
  • Eagerness to learn and take appropriate measured risks

  • The position is located at the Corporate office in Denver, CO
  • Position may be required to work overtime and/or weekends

The salary range offered for this role is $66,000-86,625. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
