About this role

What will you be responsible for?
The Americas HR Service Delivery team is moving from a U.S.-based support offering to a centralized Americas support model. This broadened footprint will encompass approximately 11,000 employees located in offices and sites in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Suriname. This increased geography crosses multiple time zones and will support 4+ languages. 
The activities of the HR Service Delivery team underpin the success and efficiency of the greater HR team. Proactive management of the team (Tier 0, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Specialist resources) operations and activities are foundational to attainment of service excellence and a positive employee experience for our workforce. The Director, Americas HR Service Delivery will define and implement the strategy for the centralized service delivery work across the Americas footprint. Provides leadership and direction for regional implementation and adoption of processes and programs. 
Builds a hard-working team through leadership practices (e.g. continuous improvement, employee goal setting, delegation, coaching, mentoring, development of others).
The Director, Americas HR Service Delivery is responsible for setting the strategic vision and execution plan across Americas HR Operations, HR Systems and Analytics. This incumbent plays a meaningful role in ensuring accurate, efficient, compliant, and digital operations are maintained and/or implemented across the Americas footprint.

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Accountable for crafting and leading an outstanding Americas HR Service Delivery function in order to drive consistency, quality, consolidation, cost savings, speed, process efficiency, productivity and business value.
  • We develop the strategy to support the evolution of HR Service Delivery model across the Americas footprint, replicating standard methodologies as vital. This is inclusive of evolution of the model while using the Employee Central platform and implementation of an HR Service Desk tool, identifying other opportunities for global centralization and identification of external trends that might impact service offerings and impact.
  • Streamline the Human Resources experience by creating a single point of access to the shared services function for leaders, managers and employees.
  • We are responsible for identifying solutions and needs across the Americas HR Service Delivery scope. Define strategic roadmap and execution plans to ensure streamlined, compliant, and digital operations. Ability to handle resources, budget, and timelines as well as ensure communication across partners/leadership.
  • The Director, HR Service Delivery will lead all areas of HR employee services, including HR Transactions, onboarding/new hire processing, offboarding/exits and will be responsible for vendors, policies and administration of select HR programs. 
  • This critical and highly transparent role will develop a team of internal/external service providers/professionals to deliver high quality HR support.
  • This individual will make significant contributions to the team’s overall mission by driving innovation, sharing standard methodologies and ensuring a positive experience for leaders, managers and employees.
  • The successful leader will act as a change agent to promote innovation and continual improvement across the HR Service Delivery scope
  • We ensure knowledge transfer and process quality
  • We oversee migration efforts to shared service organization
  • Establish and communicate process specific SLAs
  • We ensure response times/expectations are being met for internal customers
  • We create and develop a highly motivated workforce and positive team-oriented culture; demonstrate strong organizational change skills to successfully lead the shared service operations during periods of accelerated growth and continuous change
  • Ensure end-to-end process flows are in place with clearly establish responsibilities across peer COEs
  • We use reports and metrics to drive meaningful discussions with internal customers
  • Implement HR service management tool; develop an approach to use tool to assess trends and themes in order to drive improvements to HR Service Delivery.
  • We partner with peer leaders of Compensation, Benefits, Talent and HR Business Partners to drive cross collaboration and efficiencies
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the business partner and employee
  • We identify future technology solutions that will enhance productivity while reducing risk and expense

Your training, skills, & experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) certification preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP, SuccessFactors Employee Central and Benefit Focus preferred
  • General knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws preferred
  • Knowledge of multi-provincial Canadian employment law preferred or local laws in Mexico, Argentina, Peru or Suriname desirable
  • Ability to speak Spanish or French is desirable


  • Minimum 15 years of direct experience human resources service delivery 
  • Prior management experience or demonstrated ability to lead through impact and influence
  • Experience building and scaling a centralized HR Service Delivery / Operation model across a global footprint 
  • Experience in continuous improvement and project management
  • Knowledgeable and conversant with applicable legislation/policies and procedures governing employee pension and benefit programs including Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, Revenue Canada guidelines and associated programs.
  • Mining, construction, utilities or other heavy confirmed experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Keen eye for processes and systems that are both stage appropriate and can scale as the centralized model progresses
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and excellent customer service skills
  • Must have ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel applications 
  • Strong PC skills using MS office software
  • Ability to handle work across all areas of the business and function successfully within a multi-national/cultural environment
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and multi-tasking is a must
  • Problem identification and commitment to action on identified issues
  • Ability to handle highly confidential material on a continuous basis in a very professional manner
  • Must be detail oriented and quality driven
  • Ability to support multiple time zones across the Americas locations

Working conditions & location

Where you will be located!

  • Position will be based in Denver, Colorado.
  • Ability to support multiple time zones across the Americas locations.
  • Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites.

The salary range offered for this role is $127,360 to 167,160. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
