About this role

What will you be responsible for?
•    Perform accounting close activities for certain non-operating legal entities (holding companies) for the North and South America Regions.
•    Perform accounting close activities for intercompany transactions between North and South America region and Denver corporate entities.
•    Ensure adequate analysis and QA/QC of accounting activities to avoid errors and incorrect accounting treatment for the legal entities within the North and South America region.
•    Support Manager, Americas GL Accounting, Assistant Regional Controllers for each region and the Americas Regional Controller to implement accounting initiatives.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
•    Record the allocations of North and South America regional costs to each of the sites.
•    Provide analysis and report on other regional costs (i.e. non-site operating costs) for the North and South America regions.
•    Prepare and post the journal entries for the remediation costs associated with non-operating sites in North and South America regions.
•    Prepare and post journal entries associated with closing the books for the month end as assigned.
•    Assist the Manager, Americas GL Accounting with ad hoc work associated with the month end close, as assigned.
•    Record all intercompany transaction between the North and South America regions and corporate legal entities in coordination with the Corporate GL accounting team.
•    Prepare required legal entity financial statements for North and South America region legal entities, as assigned.
•    Coordinate financial statement information requests for North and South America legal entities with the Country and Corporate tax teams and external auditors.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!
Education:
•    Degree in Accounting or Finance.
•    Master’s degrees and professional certifications preferred.
Experience:
•    4 to 5 years’ experience in the mining or extractive industries in a planning, budgeting, accounting, tax and/or financial management role.
•    Mining experience preferred, but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
•    General understanding of legal entity and intercompany accounting concepts and requirements.
•    Knowledge of financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, planning, and tax.
•    Strong BPC and SAP skills, including creation of custom reports.
•    Works effectively in a cross-organizational and cross-cultural environment.
•    Strong analytical and financial skills with the ability to develop basic financial models.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills in order to effectively convey implications of business evaluation and decisions.

Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!
•    The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
•    Position may be required to travel to both domestic and international regional office and site locations on a regular basis.
•    Telephone calls and web-based meetings before and/or after normal business hours are required.

The salary range offered for this role is $. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
