  • We are looking to add safety-minded mechanics to our dedicated team and will provide the training necessary to work safely in the mining environment!
     

Essential Duties

 

  • Performs mechanical repairs, installations, inspections and preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment to provide continuous operation of vehicles and production equipment.
  • Operates mining equipment and machinery as well as shop equipment.
  • Learn and follow safety rules, report hazards, and take responsibility for your actions.
  • Demonstrate excellent listening and strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strive to make safety the foundation to everything you do and offer suggestions for improvement when you see them.
     

Training and Experience

 

  • Entry level, some experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to learn and perform mechanical repairs, installations, inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Must comply with state and federal health and safety regulations along with Company policies and procedures.
  • Able to drive a motor vehicle, and must possess a valid driver’s license with at least one-year of driving experience.
  • Able to read, write, and possess basic math and science skills to complete daily reporting requirements.
  • Reliable, consistent work history.
  • Although an entry level position, will hire experienced Mechanics.
     

Working Conditions

 

  • You will work a 12-hour shift, rotating between days and nights.
  • This full-time position is located at the Cripple Creek & Victor mine site in Colorado.
  • The Cripple Creek & Victor (CC&V) Mine site is located at elevations ranging from approximately 9,400 ft. to 10,600 ft. above sea level. Workers in this position are routinely exposed to conditions at various work sites throughout this range of elevations.
  • Weather conditions can and do change frequently, and can become severe at times.
  • Ability to complete work tasks while exposed to weather conditions / elevation.

Tech Levels

 

Successful applicants will be hired at the appropriate Tech level based on their job-related education, training and/or experience, and will be able to achieve higher Tech levels on-the-job if and when certain milestones are met.  


To move to a higher Tech level, an employee completes a self-evaluation based on a checklist of requirements for moving to the next level, and then the employee’s ability to perform the necessary skills for the next Tech level are evaluated by supervisors and other company officials.  Based on the evaluation, the employee may or may not be approved to move to the next Tech level.  If the employee is not approved, the employee can try again after having reached the necessary skill level to successfully pass the evaluation.  More information will be provided upon hiring, but here is an overview of the Tech levels:

 

  • Tech I – Employee will have minimal prior knowledge or experience in Mine Maintenance or relevant mechanical field.  Employee must work effectively with others, exhibit a willingness to learn and work with safety as their first value.
  • Tech II – Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of Mine Maintenance or relevant experience, employee must be able to safely perform the essential job tasks of the Mechanical Technician ll position with direction from co-workers and area supervisors.
  • Tech III – Minimum of 1 to 2 years of Mine Maintenance or relevant experience, employee must be able to safely perform the essential job task of the Tech lll position with minimal direction from co-workers and area supervisors.  Must be able to diagnose and repair basic mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues on mobile equipment.
  • Tech IV – Minimum of 2 to 3 years of Mine Maintenance or relevant experience, employee must be able to safely perform the essential job task of the Tech lV position with limited direction from co-workers and area supervisors. Must be able to diagnose and repair all basic and auxiliary systems including braking, cooling, air and A/C on all mobile equipment.
  • Tech V – Minimum of 3 to 4 years of Mine Maintenance or relevant experience, employee must safely perform the essential job task of the Tech V position. Employee must demonstrate proficiency in SIS web, create accurate parts lists and calibrate machine systems after service. Employee will set a positive example for others, take initiative in their work, train and help other employees.
