About this role
What will you be responsible for?
Newmont Cripple Creek and Victor mine is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer. Level varies with experience, from Metallurgist I through Senior Metallurgist. This individual will provide technical support to the following facilities: Valley Leach, Carbon Adsorption, Water Treatment and Crushing. The role will also help define production targets and lead fixing of production issues and equipment to achieve budgeted metrics. You will work closely with operators, maintenance staff, shift forepersons, superintendents and other functional areas including the Mine Department, Environmental and Safety.

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
- We gain an extensive knowledge of the heap leach and gold recovery operations on site.
- We use AutoCAD to produce leach pad maps on a weekly basis and update the leach pad model.
- We collect samples and data to support operations both independently and with a team.
- We perform data analysis in an accurate and timely manner to assist in operations on an appropriate and anticipated basis.
- We produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- We are willing and able to work with a diverse team.
- We design lab testing and scale-up to plant level.
- We perform statistical analysis.
- We demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn and improve.
- We complete Metallurgical balance procedures.
- We work with process control team to monitor and improve control logic.
- We develop and monitor critical metrics, make recommendations and alert operations where needed.
- We behave in a way that demonstrates support of Newmont’s policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
Experience:
- 0-8 years of Process Metallurgical experience.
- 2+ years of heap leaching experience.
- VBA proficiency.
- AutoCAD experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions & Location
- The Cripple Creek & Victor (CC&V) Mine site is situated at elevations ranging from approximately 9,400 ft. to 10,600 ft. above sea level. As such, you must be physically capable of working at these altitudes.
- Be prepared for frequent and potentially severe changes in weather conditions, requiring you to perform tasks within varying environmental challenges and altitudes.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $58,400- 104,595. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
