What you will do


•    We align with State and Federal and Newmont Policies and Procedures regarding Safety and Environmental regulations and standard methodology.
•    We troubleshoot, repair and rebuild equipment and machinery related to process operations i.e. Mill, ADR, Crusher etc.
•    We maintain systems and plants and perform different types of repairs as vital.
•    We replace, align and rebuild various belts, motors, pulleys, pumps and other mechanical components.

A Trainee candidate must be able to learn the following principles:

•    Lockout/Tagout/Tryout(LOTOTO)
•    Hand, Power & welding tool identification along with fastener Identification,
•    Operate mobile equipment (Forklifts, Reach forks, Light vehicles)
•    Identify Mills, Pumps, Screens, Compressors, Cyclones, Tanks, Conveyors, Feeders & magnets.
•    Identify and explain safety pull cords, visual and audible alarms.
•    Identify basic rigging tools (Lever hoist, slings, shackles, eyebolts)
•    Basic understanding of hand tools, their uses and safe handling practices
•    Basic computer skills (email, website, drives and CMMS)

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist


•    Able to drive a motor vehicle, and must possess a valid driver’s license with at the least one-year of driving experience
•    Able to read, write and possess basic math and science skills to complete daily reporting requirements.
•    Reliable, consistent work history.
•    Mechanical experience is helpful, but not required.


Demonstrate ability to follow directions, consistently follow company policies and procedures, maintain a high level of efficiency, demonstrate ability to apply knowledge gained and work as a team member. Ability to come-up with practical solutions to problems.
This position will include 30, 60 & 90 day evaluations. If candidate is progressing at the encouraged pace, the position will stay open for advancement into a TECH 1 position as they become available. This will continue through the Newmont Line of progression program, that includes the possibility of upper level advancement. If candidate does not meet the encouraged criteria, goals or display Newmont’s values, this trainee position will close, trainee may be invited to bid on other opportunities, or employment may be terminated.

Working Conditions and Location


  • You will work 12-hour rotating shifts from days to nights, or a 10-hour rotating day shift, and on calls.
  • The Cripple Creek & Victor (CC&V) Mine site is located at elevations ranging from approximately 9,400 ft. to 10,600 ft. above sea level. Workers in this position are routinely exposed to conditions at various work sites throughout this range of elevations and must be physically capable of working at this altitude.
  • Weather conditions can and do change frequently, and can become severe at times.
  • Ability to complete work tasks while exposed to weather conditions / elevation.

 The hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role will depend on the level, and the range of the hourly rate is $26.62. The hourly rate is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado.  The specific level and hourly rate that is offered to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The hourly rate offer will not be based on a candidate’s wage rate history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about wage rate history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
