Member of the Mine Technical Services team for Porcupine’s Borden operation, Canada’s first all-electric mine. Collaborate with Mine Operations and other relevant departments.

Essential Duties


  • Contribute to engineering activities in support of ongoing and future mining activities
  • Complete engineering work on projects identified by the engineering and operating groups
  • Conduct field visits to collect data, inspect implementation and various inspections
  • Identify, participate and/or implement engineering projects to enhance safety and operational effectiveness as part of a continuous improvement strategy
  • Ensure the use of standard procedures and policies and contribute to the development of improved procedures, guidelines and standards
  • Ensures compliance of company policies and procedures
  • Works with and interacts well with other groups, such as Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Health & Safety and Human Resources
  • Ensures compliance with all provincial and federal laws for safety, employment and environment

Training & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in mining or geotechnical engineering.  Eventually available to be licensed in the province of Ontario within Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Less than 1-2 years of professional mining engineering experience
  • Technically competent and has a good understanding of key business drivers for underground mining
  • Able to effectively create strategic relationships with engineering, operations and management personnel
  • Has strong communication and people skills
  • Able to effectively make presentations on underground projects
  • Be focused, clear and decisive
  • Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the engineering, project, geology and operation groups

Working Conditions


  • This position is located at Borden, part of Newmont's Porcupine mine site near Chapleau, ON.
  • In this role, you will work a 5x2/4x3 schedule.  As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require relocation.
