Dimensions
Purpose

This position ensures Newmont's compliance with environmental permits and plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing reports and permit applications, interacting with regulators and external stakeholders, preparing budgets, managing projects, and may supervise environmental coordinators and environmental technicians.

Essential Duties

Complete inspections and audits and maintain records for Environmental compliance

Coordinate environmental compliance, permitting, training, and closure activities with site operations teams

Develop and implement S&ER programs, procedures, and employee training

Prepare environmental compliance reports and review reports prepared by direct reports

Prepare permit modifications and renewal applications and federal Environmental impact assessment and impact statements

Evaluate the severity of accidents incidents, their effect on the environment, and determine proper response or escalation

Collaborate and meet with Environmental regulators, local government agencies, and other stakeholders regularly

Manage large environmental projects, contractors, and consultants

Manage internal and external Environmental audits

Supervise Environmental coordinators and Environmental technicians and prepare budgets

Training & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related preferred

Knowledge of State and Federal Environmental Regulations and NEPA, RCRA, ISO 14001 required

Experience with mining Environmental regulations required

Experience:

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years experience or 8+ years of applicable experience

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

Must have ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word and Excel applications

Strong PC skills using MS office software

Demonstrated ability to work safely while following applicable safety regulations and procedures
