What you will be doing
Your role in the Mine Asset Management team at Newmont Boddington Gold will be to manage the assigned contracts portfolio including, but not limited to, rationalization of contracts on site, coordination of regular contract review meetings and the negotiation, administration and coordination of all major mining goods and service contracts.  This includes the onsite commercial management of all Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC), in coordination with the site Finance Team and the Mine Maintenance Cost Controller.
 
Responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting adherence to the work management processes, working closely with the execution and operational teams to streamline asset reliability and availability, preparing reports and key performance indicator data to be used as a basis for continuous improvement initiatives and providing visible safety leadership across the site.
  • Ensuring efficient works are completed on Newmont assets. This includes the monitoring of plans for major shutdowns, spares management and cost modelling whilst working closely with other asset management team members to implement strategic objectives.
  • Overseeing investigation of equipment failures and implementation of resultant changes to the physical equipment, maintenance strategy and operating practices in order to improve asset reliability and performance. 
  • Evaluating and implementing known continuous improvement practices and leading edge technology to positively enhance the maintenance and repair processes. 
  • Ensuring Newmont’s Assets are being maintained by Contractors and Business Partners and working closely with the Planning & Strategy team to model equipment or fleet replacements in line with Mine Strategy. This includes Light Vehicle, Ancillary and Drill Fleet equipment.
  • Providing technical advice and coaching to the Mine Maintenance and Mine Operational teams to ensure statutory compliance, timely resolution of issues and ongoing business improvement.

 
Who you are 

  • A Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification with post trade qualifications (Desirable). 
  • Management or senior supervisory experience, preferably in a large open cut mining operation with a diverse range of Heavy Mobile Equipment.
  • Asset management or equipment management experience, preferably with experience in the areas of reliability, condition monitoring, planning and scheduling.
  • Innovative, with well-developed time management and people management skills.
  • Ability to manage a professional team of maintenance engineering personnel for a large mining operation.
  • Heavy Mobile Equipment maintenance and repair process auditing experience at a senior level (preferable).
  • High level of communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong PC Skills and computer literacy.
  • Strong working knowledge of budget and cost control in a Heavy Mobile Equipment maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the statutory regulations relevant to safety and the environment for the mining industry.
  • Prior experience in mentoring technical personnel.
