About The Role:

You will be responsible for the leadership and co-ordination of the Drill and Blast operations to achieve the monthly, quarterly & annual budget targets and to ensure progressive, sustainable improvements within the Mining Department consistent with Mine Business Goals.

In This Role You Will:
  • Oversee the achievement of monthly production targets, in respect of standards, quality of work, rework and output.
  • Prepare for and attend planning meetings with information to input to mining process plans: particularly drill and blast resource allocation and identification of risks to plan
  • Lead Supervision in the maintenance of a consistent operations outlook with compliance to plan.
  • Oversee the monitoring and standards of drill and blast activities to achieve the Mine Plan
  • Review performance, Plan v Actual, of drilling units and blasting outputs to achieve the Mine Plan and any Short Interval Controls actions.
  • Provide resources and create a working environment that encourages your team to actively contribute to safety, health, environmental and community relations,
  • Identify, promote and actively participate in the implementation of projects that demonstrate working in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Develop relationships with other Departments to ensure maximum safety, cooperation and productivity.
  • Conduct regular monitoring, assessment and review of contractor performance in the field and maintain relevant records
Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist:
  • 3 – 5 years experience as a Superintendent / Manager preferably in a large open pit mining operation
  • +10 years supervisory experience in large open pit operations
  • Previous Gold mining experience, in particular in a large, open pit environment.
  • Exposure to strategic business planning processes including budgeting, capital         purchases and cost management
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Engineering disciplines – Drill and Blast, Production, Mechanical or Planning
  • Knowledge of Drill and Blast practices
  • Unrestricted / Restricted Quarry Managers Certificate is desirable
