Reporting to the Senior Production Planning Engineer, you will work a 8/6 roster and be responsible for ensuring the mine plan is executed according to plan and make adjustments to the daily and weekly mine plan that are consistent with the objectives of the operation.

 

About You

Your ability to multitask in a highly demanding, dynamic environment, together with highly effective communications skills across a wide range of disciplines and a proven ability to influence and gain the cooperation and consensus of a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure short term operational objectives are achieved will be requisite for your success in this role.

 

You will have demonstrable skills and knowledge in mining engineering and previous experience in a technical open pit mining role and a strong desire to expand and apply your technical and operational knowledge in the continuous improvement of the operation

 

The position operates in an environment that focuses on safe, cost-effective production; technical excellence and will provide an opportunity to develop your skills and experience as part of the Newmont Leadership Pipeline.

 

On a practical level, you will hold Tertiary Qualification – Bachelor of Engineering (Mine) or equivalent, advanced PC skills and computer literacy including experience with global mine planning software packages

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Generate, implement and reconcile the daily and weekly mine plan, ensure alignment with the monthly mine plan and identify and raise variance from the monthly mine plan.
  • Develop purposeful working relationships to engage key stakeholder groups including Mine Operations and Maintenance, Process Operations and Maintenance, FMS, Geology, Survey and Geotechnical.
  • Promote the plan, encourage discussion and collect feedback capturing areas of concern or bottlenecks and mitigation steps to manage, ensuring decisions and actions can be justified.
  • Design and implement infrastructure, dump and stockpile, road maintenance, ramps and roads in accordance to LOM design, through field review and in conjunction with Mine Operations and drive compliance to site standards.
  • Conduct the monthly and bi-annually haul road and intersection inspection and follow up any finding from the inspection.
