The Mechanical Engineer will be liaising collaboratively with maintenance, operations, and business partner teams to identify and resolve problems related to safety, asset integrity and equipment breakdown, to safely achieve production targets and reduce operating costs.
The role provides mechanical engineering support for site assets with an emphasis on custodianship of the change management process to ensure equipment compliance with Site and Australian standards.
Responsibilities include.
- Providing technical support to the Maintenance Superintendents, Coordinators, Supervisors and Trades people.
- Demonstrating safety leadership by performing regular safety interactions and critical control audits, promoting standard task procedures and reporting non-compliance risks, hazards, and behaviors.
- Resolve complex technical and warranty issues, improving the reliability and maintainability of plant through the application of knowledge, following industry practice.
- Support the design and operation of the facility by solving complex engineering problems.
- Management of OEMs and facilitation of internal and external support to continually improve plant performance.
- Coordination of reliability and maintainability improvement initiatives working alongside site engineers and external vendors.
- Support, plan, develop and manage equipment overhauls, maintenance strategies, maintenance improvement projects, preparation of capital project scopes and management of minor capital projects.
- Preparing detailed engineering work scopes and managing/supporting the execution of maintenance tasks in high-pressure situations, such as full-plant shutdowns involving over 1,200 personnel.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of equipment issues utilising RCA and RCM methodologies.
- Driving the reliability centered maintenance process, leading facilitating root cause analysis sessions, and delivering detailed failure investigation reports to key stakeholders. Tracking the execution and effectiveness of related corrective actions.
- Manage and maintain engineering documentation and records for statutory compliance for classified plants, tanks, mechanical installations, equipment and works across the site.
- Development and maintaining of site engineering records, technical standards, specifications and standard mechanical drawings utilising site document control and change management system.
About You
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering with several years post graduate experience.
- Significant engineering experience in a large-scale complex processing plant or heavy industry.
- Experience across maintenance engineering, mechanical design, and rotating equipment reliability.
- Strong maintenance knowledge and experience including precision alignment and fitment, hydraulic systems, lubrication, materials selection, Maintenance management systems, Condition Monitoring Systems, and techniques.
- Experienced with structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) engineering design and drafting to the relevant industry standards.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and standards.

You will utilise your prior experience and knowledge to problem solving and be capable of handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment. You will be a motivated individual with an organised and disciplined approach to your work.
