Geotechnical Engineer

What you will be doing

 

Working within the Geotechnical Team you will be:

 

  • Providing geotechnical advice to Technical Services, Production Engineering and Mining Operations
  • Conducting performance monitoring and analysis of production blasting, including post excavation wall geometry and wall control techniques
  • Assessing the effects mining is having, or may have in the future, on localised mine stability
  • Assisting in the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of slope performance monitoring systems and reviewing of monitoring data
  • Providing geotechnical input to production plans and developing geotechnical ground support schedules that align with production requirements
  • Developing remedial plans, which may include rope access scaling, bolting and meshing
  • Ensuring compliance to Newmont standards and the Western Australian Mine Safety and Inspection Regulation (MSIR) 1995

 

Who you are

 

  • You will have a degree in Geotechnical Engineering (Mining), or in Mining Engineering or Geology with mining geomechanical subjects
  • Proficiency in Minesight or Vulcan, DIPS, SWedge, Slide, and RocFall geotechnical software
  • Well-developed analytical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

 

Recent graduates or applicants with a genuine interest in commencing a career within geotechnical services in a large open pit environment and who meet the above qualification criteria are encouraged to apply.
