The Role

Newmont are seeking to employ a Geology/Field Technician to join our Boddington Exploration team. In this role, you will responsible for assisting with day-to-day exploration activities and provide logistical support to allow the team to execute the programs. The role will report to the Superintendent – Near Mine Exploration, Boddington.

This role is a 1 year, fixed term contract with Newmont with the potential for this to extended based on performance.


In this role, you will

  • Diamond core mark-up, processing, and sampling.
  • DD, RC, RAB, and aircore sampling and dispatch.
  • Providing logistical assistance on all exploration field activities.
  • Geochemical soil sampling, using GPS and maps to navigate to sample points in semi-remote environments
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and rehabilitation of drilling programs, surface sampling programs and historic rehabilitation.
  • Continually seek to improve the effectiveness of exploration processes and systems
  • Effectively communicating with contractors to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard


The person

  • Experience processing diamond drill core and working around drilling rigs
  • Experience working in remote environments as an exploration field assistant.
  • Current WA "C" Class Driver's License
  • Current Forklift ticket
  • Experience with ArcGIS or similar software skills are desirable.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a continuous improvement culture
  • Excellent problem solving capabilities, strong work ethic, confident decision maker, self-motivated and responsible for actions.


This is an exciting, fast pace role with the ability to assist with executing the exploration programs on all scales. You will be working within a small team, where you will have the ability to work both on your own and within a team environment. You will need to have good communications skills, a focus on achieving agreed targets safely, enjoy taking on challenging tasks and be able to make timely decisions.
