We are seeking applications for a 14-month Fixed Term opportunity for the Environmental Superintendent – Operations  at Boddington.

 

Reporting to the Sustainability & External Relations (SER) Manager you will be accountable for execution of the sites’ environmental management and monitoring plans and assuring compliance related to existing licences and approvals.  Leading a team of five you will also be tasked with progressing the site’s concurrent closure plan and providing site support for strategic projects group as directed by the SER Manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Evolving Boddington’s Environmental Management System (EMS), in accordance with Newmont’s standards and voluntary commitments.
  • Ensuring compliance, reporting and renewal against all respective licences and approvals
  • Completion of the site’s extensive monitoring program
  • Completion of specialist studies as they may relate to management of biodiversity, dust, noise, rehabilitation, closure and water resources 
  • Preparation and submission of site technical, statutory and annual environmental reports.
  • Compliance with existing internal standards and voluntary commitments
  • Supporting regional site projects through execution of approvals and supervising specialist field work
  • Progressing the sites’ rolling 5-year concurrent closure plan
  • Providing direct supervision, mentoring and work plans in management of the site’s Environmental Advisers and Field Technicians.
  • Responsibility for taking the leadership role in managing the investigation and remediation of environmental events.
  • Working with SER Manager to engage and develop rapport with key external stakeholders


Skills & Experience checklist:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental affairs and management including development of mitigation plans.
  • Experience in concurrent rehabilitation and monitoring.
  • Experience in land & water management.
  • Onsite experience working within a mining environment.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a safe and respectful workplace
  • Extensive working knowledge of relevant State and Federal environmental legislation.
  • Experience in conducting and leading incident/event investigations.
  • Experience in conducting and leading audits.
  • Experience in managing and executing team work plans.
  • Working knowledge relevant to management of cultural heritage.
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent communication abilities (both written and oral).
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate or equivalent.
