Civil Engineer - Dam Safety

About This Role

You will be reporting to the Senior Dams and Tailings Engineer and will be responsible for the geotechnical monitoring and dam safety surveillance for all Newmont Boddington Gold (NBG) Tailings and Water Dams. A key aspect of your role is to help support develop and implement an effective and standardised dam safety surveillance program, while improving instrumentation across the site tailings and water storage facilities.

 

In This Role You Will

  • Actively monitor and report on the performance of Dams and Tailings infrastructure to help ensure the facilities are operated in accordance with the design intent.
  • Actively partake in instrument automation and technology advancement in dam surveillance
  • Review geotechnical monitoring data, infrastructure and instrumentation.
  • Assist in the development of Emergency Preparedness Response Plans
  • Assist in the execution of site investigation programs
  • Develop and review daily operator inspections to ensure dam safety performance and surveillance.
  • Support continuous improvement of geotechnical dam monitoring in collaboration with the site team

 

Your Skills, Training & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification specialising in Civil, Mining or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Previous site experience in Dams and or Tailings engineering preferred but not essential
  • Keen to progress your career in tailings, geotechnics and water management.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and to communicate effectively across multiple levels and disciplines.
  • Ability to review reports and analyses, and carry out audits.
  • Previous mining experience highly regarded.

 

Work Conditions and Location

Our unique site is only 130kms from Perth CBD and approximately 100kms from the coast in the Peel Region. Live locally in the town site of Boddington and go home every night, or stay in our Village for your roster and DIDO. This role is on a 5/2:4/3 roster (5 days on site, 2 days off, 4 days on site, 3 days off) working a 40 hour week.
