About This Role.

  • To plan, coordinate, execute and track the overall ore control and resource modeling processes.

In This Role You Will.

Ore Control Modelling and Development Geology.

  • The role will involve ore control modeling and development geology, geological modeling, structural mapping, and resource estimation. 
  • Oversee the supervision of the assay laboratory required for ore control. 
  • Ensure reserve and ore control block models are produced and validated for planning and mining. 
  • Ensure month end reconciliation figures are prepared and updates to resource modeling processes are recommended. 

 

Database Management.

  • Review data integrity and quality during each drilling phase.
  • Conduct extensive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) monitoring to ensure the accuracy of data and interpretations.
  • Validate moderate to complex interpretative and analytical geological data.

 

Exploration Opportunities.

  • Identify and evaluate green fields or near-mine exploration opportunities.
  • Investigate the potential of obtaining third party mineral investment opportunities.

 

Communication.

  • Oversee and coordinate communication processes with team members.
  • Collaborate with Mine Engineering, Metallurgy and Mine Geology teams.
  • Manage information relating to resourcing and verify accuracy of assays, composites, and densities.

 

Work Scheduling and Allocation.

  • Conduct and coordinate development plans for mining production.
  • Establish long-term activities directed toward work viability.
  • Exercise moderate to complex judgment in establishing job priorities.

 

Environment, Health and Safety Management.

  • Monitor regulatory compliance and ensures alignment with international standards for mineral resource and reserve estimates. 
  • Takes personal responsibility for the health and safety of employees is accepted and safe work practices are followed.
  • Carry out activities according to Newmont Environment, Health and Safety principles.

 

Team Leadership and Staff Supervision.

  • Provide guidance and expertise to the Production unit and the exploration function.
  • Supervise complex Geological activities and prioritize tasks and responsibilities. 
  • Perform first level of performance appraisal, recommend training and development actions. 
  • Enhance communication with staff through regular feedback, meetings and briefings.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist.

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations).

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Geoscience / Geological Engineering / Earth Science.
  • Must be able to meet the requirement of an Ore Control Modeler and Production Geologist.

 

Additional Knowledge.

  • Advanced knowledge of modeling software, particularly 3D Modeling and basic understanding of grade estimation techniques.
  • Broad understanding of the following:
    • Generative Exploration
    • Development Geology
    • Production Geology
  • Knowledge of Geometallurgy and Mining processes.

 

Experience.

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years in a Development Geology, Production Geology and Resource Geology environment (need experience in all three disciplines), of which 2-3 years should be in a supervisory capacity.

  • The position is located in Ahafo North.
