About This Role:

To support geophysical exploration surveys and programs by operating specialized instruments and collecting field data which would be used in generating mineral exploration targets.

In This Role You Will:

Collecting and filtering data

  • Collect (magnetics, Induced Polarization, gravity and Time Domain Electromagnetics) data according to technical standards and as per specific requirements of the survey.

 

Operating Instruments/ Light Vehicle (LV)

  • Operate instruments as instructed by the Geophysicist and according to standards.
  • Support in troubleshooting equipment.
  • Able to operate a manual 4 X 4 Light Vehicle in all terrains.

 

Staff Supervision

  • Support in providing any required training to Field Assistant (casuals).
  • Manages all day-to-day activities of casuals in the field.

 

Safety

  • Complete all data acquisition processes by fully adhering to all Newmont’s Health and Safety systems and protocols.
  • Oversee that all work carried out adheres to Health and Safety standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings in the Field under supervision of Geophysical Technologist/ Geophysicist.
  • Identify and resolve safety issues within area of responsibility.
     

Your Training Skills & Experience Checklist

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Completion of BECE/WASSCE or equivalent Certificate.

 

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Geophysical techniques including the use of specialized instruments and how to collect quality data.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to the field crew.
  • The ability to apply the principles of problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve a problem in the best interest of all stakeholders.
  • The ability to accurately give an account of information pertaining to the performance of outputs.

Working Conditions
