This position reports to the Mine Coordinator

Purpose

 

  • Responsible for efficient use of the open pit dispatching system, including both the fleet management system (GPS) and all supporting software.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the operation for the fleet management system, including integration with engineering, operations and maintenance.

Essential Duties

 

  • Ensure operation of the fleet management system is consistent with the safety, regulatory, and PGM standards.
  • Identify and report on use of the fleet management system to improve safety at the PGM.
  • Assist in developing and updating fleet management system policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that Triple Zero is achieved.
  • Take part in monthly safety inspections / meetings.
  • Facilitate the development of open pit personnel in the use of all onboard hardware necessary to follow all safety implementations.
  • Responsible for ensuring efficiencies and utilizations meets or exceeds targets established on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all necessary inputs are entered into the fleet management system with emphasis on data accuracy. 
  • Function as liaison with the open pit crews to ensure adequate training is provided in the function and interactions for the onboard hardware.
  • Responsible for optimizing pit efficiencies through the effective use of dispatching.
  • Assist open pit supervision in developing achievable daily targets that meet or exceed the short-range plan.
  • Act as a liaison to the operations departments to ensure short-range targets are effectively communicated.
  • Act as a liaison to the maintenance departments to ensure maintenance requirements are achieved.
  • Take part in the development of new processes initiated for the improvement to the Fleet Management System and provide detailed information towards the effectiveness.

Training & Experience

 

  • Mining Technologist/Technician diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years’ operating/technical experience
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Have strong oral, written and communications skills
  • Ability to effectively integrate the requirements of operations and maintenance into the operation of the fleet management system
  • Clear understanding of open pit operations is required
  • Position requires in-depth understanding of MineStar Dispatch system
