Essential Duties

Safety and Health

  • Demonstrate proactive leadership in achieving a global Newmont culture of safety and health 
  • Actively promote Newmont’s safety standards and improvement initiatives


Global Strategic Equipment Planning & Life Cycle Management 

  • Drive standardization and improvement of equipment strategies and associated master data for all maintenance activities including shutdowns
  • Coordinate with IT specialists to execute more complex and large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) changes in-line with AM team’s needs 
  • Proactively socialize updates and improvements to strategies prompted by OEM updates, site learnings, or AM OSN insights with relevant stakeholders and capture them in SAP/AMT once finalized


Budget and Business Planning 

  • Create annual maintenance budgets for sites
  • Coordinate review of site budgets for approval with site and regional leadership for submission in annual business plan and to support maintenance decisions (e.g., shut intervals)
  • Proactively socialize improvements to budgets and Life Cycle Cost Models driven by changes in guidance, site requirements, and strategies with relevant stakeholders and capture them in AMT once finalized

Purpose

Technical Services provides global support to Newmont and its operating businesses across a range of specialized technical functions. Within Technical Services, the Asset Management (AM) function will be responsible for creating and implementing effective global asset strategies, delivering efficient asset planning and strategic insights to drive exceptional global asset performance across Newmont’s portfolio.  It aims to ensure that Newmont’s asset management processes and capabilities are a source of sustainable and considerable competitive advantage for Newmont. This is achieved by focusing on business process standardization, proactive collaboration, competency and capability development, maintenance and reliability practices, relevant global productivity metrics and targeted value-adding asset lifecycle cost improvements. The AM function is focused on delivering value aligned with our philosophy of continuous improvement and rapid replication.


The Strategic Planning function ensures that asset strategies including maintenance plans, tasks lists, bills of materials, labor requirements, and work instructions are implemented and utilized by transactional planners and site teams. The Strategy Management and Budget Planner implements, audits, and maintains long-term strategies and maintenance plans in SAP/AMT as well as cost models and budgets using analysis from AM Operating Support Network (OSN) insights, site learnings, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) updates.

This role draws on expertise as a strategic thinker, project manager, communicator, technical subject matter expert, and problem solver. Key outcomes include:

  • Prepare and review long-term asset strategies and budgets for fixed/mobile equipment and master data management conducted by Reliability Engineers & Strategic Planners
  • Initiate and implement AM strategy development and optimization process 
  • Conduct timely updates and improvement of equipment strategies based on site learnings, OEM updates, and AM OSN insights, and ensure communication of material changes to relevant stakeholders 
  • Create and communicate AM best practices and technical vision across Newmont portfolio

Training & Experience

Knowledge: 

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience and understanding highly desirable 
  • Strong understanding of asset strategies and budget creation 

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a heavy industry. Experience with both asset management and operations is preferred. 
  • Experience with manual and computerized maintenance planning systems
  • Understanding of change, communication and knowledge management methodologies
  • Experience developing and implementing asset strategies that improve Asset Management performance, reliability and safety, reducing operating costs and maximizing return on assets 
  • Experience with master data management and governance 
  • Experience with budget and business plan preparation

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive performance improvement initiatives in a complex and global organization
  • Ability to quickly assess information to diagnose problems and opportunities, with a track record of strong professional judgement and critical thinking 
  • Ability to manage stakeholders across Newmont including within operations, supply chain, and external partners, both in-person and virtually 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high performing, multi-disciplined, diverse team 
  • Inter-personal relationship skills and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize jobs in order of importance
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the frequent out of normal office hours requirements of leading a global team and project

Working Conditions

  • Position may be required to travel domestically and internationally
