Process Plant Maintenance Material Technician

This role bridges the gap between when materials are released from the warehouse and are now in the possession of maintenance. Requires a high degree of collaboration between maintenance roles and materials management roles. This is a Materials Management role working for Maintenance. Reports to the Planning Supervisor with a dotted line to the Maintenance General Foreperson.

Purpose

 

To organize, co-ordinate and manage materials for planned maintenance activities and implement the plan based on the maintenance strategy following the Newmont guidelines.

Essential Duties

 

  • Kits parts and materials as per reservation requirements and defined process
  • Follows a daily routine of backlog review to complete kits as materials arrive in the warehouse
  • Stages kits to predetermined locations based on planed start dates for jobs
  • Follows an organized system for kit locations and staging locations
  • Maintains the Kitting and Staging areas to 5S standards
  • Ensure codes on work orders are accurate and up to date 
  • Coordinate the shipping and transport of stock and non-stock materials to areas of kitting or staging
  • Delivers materials to maintenance departments when required
  • Fills reservations from multiple warehouse locations on both surface and underground. 
  • Resolves bin count or received count discrepancies as needed
  • Package and/or skid materials for shipping following approved procedures. Ensure all appropriate labels, documents and warnings are attached.
  • Returns all unused parts and materials following approved procedures
  • Perform all transactional duties with accuracy
  • Prepares a weekly report of complete, incomplete, and staged kits by planned date
  • Follow up on slow moving and overdue material orders (with Infosys buyers) for incomplete kits
  • Assist implementing new or revised warehouse and maintenance systems or processes that are designed to improve planning or scheduling or work execution
  • Operates vehicles and mobile equipment for the purpose of moving materials on site or inside a warehouse
  • Safety must always be considered for all work
  • Always use proper posture and form for all tasks
  • Seeks assistance or uses a mechanical equipment with large and or heavy loads
  • Promote and adhere to Newmont Porcupine environmental and sustainability polices.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all stakeholders
  • Work with the area supervisors and safety roles to improve and promote safety
  • Attend morning huddles and monthly safety meetings
  • Promote and build a positive & co-operative working relationship with all departments
     

Training & Experience

 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer literate with specific knowledge of Excel, Word
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a warehouse operator or similar role
  • Knowledge of warehouse operation in either mining, construction, forest, or other relatable industries
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using computerized materials management software
  • Must have good organizational skills and problem solving ability
  • Must be ready to take Surface Common Core if or when required
     

Working Conditions

 

  • This position is located at Dome site, part of Newmont's Porcupine Mine Site near Timmins, ON.
  • In this role, you will work a 4x3 schedule.  As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require you to relocate.
